This brand was created in 1981 by Essie Weingerten , and first marketed its initial 12 colors, some of which are still available today. Then came the brand's first treatment line with a base coat and top coat, pioneering a line that has never stopped growing.
In 1982, it landed in Japan, where it quickly expanded to England and France shortly after. In 1983, many stars were already publicly proclaiming their love for the brand; the first was the presenter Joan Rivers on The Tonight Show. In 1996, she received her first award from Allure magazine, which recognized her nail polishes as the Best Nail Polishes in the first 'Best of Beauty Awards'; since then, they have continued to receive awards from all the recognized beauty institutions.
